The song of the Siren have lured many to answer the call and set sail to the waters of our blue planet. No
matter the song she has sung for you, when you answer you will want the efficiency and unprecedented power of
Suzuki Outboard Motors behind you.
Suzuki's humble beginnings began more than ninety years ago in the small Japanese village Hamamatsu by Michio
Suzuki. With a desire for a better weaving loom, Michio set out to build the complex machinery that would become
the beginning for the Suzuki that we now know today.
After thirty years building weaving looms Suzuki sought diversity deciding to build small cars, but was
terminated by the government declaring them as non-essential. It wasn't until the Fifties that this dream would be
rejuvenated by the demise of the cotton market in the US, which hampered exports to Japan. Once again set to build
inexpensive modes of transportation, Suzuki invented a small motorized bicycle that impressed the government. This
provided the finances necessary to continue research and development for the new future of Suzuki.
With the roads cleared Suzuki took to them and by the seventies had built a reputation for advanced, durable,
high-powered machines.
In the late Seventies took to the water making big waves with Suzuki Outboard Motors revolutionizing the
industry with technological breakthroughs such as computerized controls to optimize timing, true oil injection,
dual-plug heads, dual water intakes, and magnetic ignition switches.
At the beginning of the Nineties Suzuki Outboard Motors once again revolutionized the industry with the DT225.
The first outboard to integrate digital electronic fuel injection, it also touted a construction of boron composite
cylinder walls as well as ceramic reinforced metal pistons. Their innovation was rewarded with the prestige of
Suzuki's first National Marine Manufacturers Association Innovation Award.
As the end of the Nineties approached Suzuki Outboard Motors had more to say about the industry before the
millennium. In Ninety Eight Suzuki Outboard Motors introduced it's first four stroke outboard using electronic fuel
injection. One year later Suzuki Outboard Motors brought the next level of four stroke outboards with their
DF40/50, a dual overhead cam with four valves per cylinder. The innovation and dedication brought both of these
offerings the National Marine Manufacturers Association Innovation Award to Suzuki twice again before the end of
the millennium.
Only a couple of years pass before Suzuki Outboard Motors start turning heads and getting nods with the
impressive small but powerful DF-140. Delivering one hundred and forty horses with electronic fuel injection into a
compact outboard, this powerful titan came in at only four hundred and eleven pounds!
With their eyes on the prize, Suzuki Outboard Motors took the industry by storm again releasing the DF-200,
DF-225, and DF-250. Honouring their reputation in offering technologically advanced and compact designs, Two
Thousand and Four didn't disappoint, with the DF-250 the world had its first two hundred and fifty V6 four stoke
outboard motor. Once again Suzuki Outboard Motors was honoured by the National Marine Manufacturers Association's
Innovation Award.
Only three short years later Suzuki Outboard Motors raised the bar once again with the industries most powerful
V6 four stroke outboard with a staggering three hundred horsepower. Proving them selves time and time again, Suzuki
Outboard Motors is without a doubt an industry leader.
